Introduction of Peer Tutoring Program
The Center for Language Education will launch the Peer Tutor Program (PTP) during Week 7. It’s a free service open to all SUSTech students. It is run by six highly qualified student tutors and supervised by a rotating group of CLE staff.
Through this program, students can receive help/ practice related to English classes and the English language from fellow students around their same age who have excellent English proficiency.
The help/ practice includes
- the four core language skills,
- grammar & vocabulary,
- conversational practice,
- overseas university application advice
- any other areas of interest that you may have.
Who are the tutors?
Hello, I am Vincent. I am a senior and my major is mathematics. I have a high level of English so I can help you learn English and prepare you for some English exams. Or maybe you just want to practice your spoken English; feel free to stop by. You can also ask me things about mathematics. I am open to any topic!
Hi, I’m Yvonne, a junior student majoring in hydrology, and I am a hiking enthusiast. I’ve quickly “passed” my TOEFL and GRE in about three months. If you are still fighting with GRE words, which appear unfamiliar no matter how many times you’ve seen them, maybe you’ve never finished your TOEFL reading on time, or maybe you just want to speak English with someone, I am very happy to help you!
I’m Steven, a freshman international student from Hungary. As a volunteer, I helped my former peers to learn English and prepare for their classes. I am happy to share my experience with you. Should you need help with giving a presentation, writing an essay, preparing for an exam, or just want to have a conversation, feel free to visit me.
Hi! I’m Janice, a senior year student from Material Science and Engineering. I have survived both the GRE and the TOEFL tests, so feel free to bring up any test-related questions that you may have, especially on the TOEFL speaking and listening tests. I will try my best to help you!
Hi, I’m Davy. I am a senior year student. My expertise is in reading and listening skills. Also, I would like to share my experience in Canada and Scotland with you if you are thinking about studying abroad. You are also welcome to have a random chat with me. Hope to see you soon!
Hi all! I am Hao, a physics senior, currently doing my thesis at UC Berkeley. I can help you out through Skype or email. Since there is a time difference between you and me, I am most likely to help you edit your essays, but any kinds of questions are welcome!
How to make an appointment?
Each student can have a 30-minute session with a tutor. There is no limited number of visits a semester!
