In a thrilling competition of writing skills and originality, SUSTech students have excelled in the 2025 National English Writing Competition for College Students (NEWCCS). Organized by the National Advisory Committee for University English Teaching and the National Higher Normal School Foreign Language Teaching and Research Collaborative Group, this renowned competition attracted participation from over 25,000 students across 1,800 universities nationwide in June, 2025.
Competing against top universities like Peking University, Fudan University, and many others, our SUSTech students proudly excelled. Among the 54 undergraduate students and four graduate students who participated, four students clinched the National Second Prize, and six students earned the National Third Prize. Additionally, nine students were awarded the Provincial First Prize, while seven students secured the Provincial Second Prize, and seven students secured the Provincial Third Prize. These wins not only celebrate the individual accomplishments of our students but also affirm the university’s dedication to academic excellence.

One of the competition organizers commented on the impressive results, saying, "SUSTech students' success is a reflection of their hard work and their teachers’ commitment to providing an education that empowers them to think globally and communicate confidently."
The notable performance at NEWCCS highlights SUSTech students’ strong English writing capabilities, communicative competence, and communicative confidence, as well as the success of CLE’s innovative foreign language education program. The Center for Language Education (CLE) has been cultivating this excellence, constantly innovating with its English writing curriculum and enriching teaching practices to elevate students' comprehensive skills.
