The “FLTRP·ETIC Cup” “Understanding Contemporary China” National Foreign Language Proficiency Contest for College Students is one of the most influential national foreign language competitions, featuring a variety of contests and a comprehensive assessment of student’s language proficiency. In 2024, approximately fifty thousand contestants from sixty-night universities in Guangdong Province participated. During the preliminary contest, our university had 368 contestants, with 20 winning gold medals, 57 silver medals, and 94 bronze medals.

The outstanding performance of SUSTech students in the national English competition fully reflects the effectiveness of our university’s distinctive English education system. Promoting learning through competition is an important dimension of our English education outside the classroom. The Center for Language Education has been actively promoting and guiding English competitions, offering related lectures and personalized tutoring, and striving to create more opportunities and resources to help our students continuously develop their English skills. In the future, we will continue to promote English competitions, share learning opportunities, and provide platforms for our teachers and students to showcase their talents. We wish our students success in achieving new heights in the national finals! We also welcome everyone to join us and participate in English competitions!
