On September 13, the Center for Language Education (CLE) of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with the SUSTech Language Commission and SUSTech Global, hosted a themed event, “Make Mooncakes & Learn Chinese”. The event attracted many international faculty members and students.

Dr. Wenhui ZHU, Chinese Lecturer of CLE, taught expression related to the Mid-Autumn Festival and shared the cultural significance and myths associated with the celebration with international faculty and students.

Mooncakes, a traditional delicacy of the festival, are not only a must-eat food for the celebration but also enjoyable to make. Participants used mochi dough to encase various fillings, shaping them into perfect snow-skin mooncakes using specialized molds. This hands-on experience was a delightful highlight for everyone involved.

“The SUSTech Center for Language Education is the hub for languages and communication. Here we learn new languages and celebrate language diversity within the SUSTech community. Please make the CLE your indispensable companion at SUSTech and share your language with us”, said Dr. Yuan LI, Director of CLE.
