Mr. Pascal Chabot joined SUSTech at the start of the Fall 2024 semester. He brings with him a dual-specialty background that includes having worked extensively as a corporate IT professional throughout the US, and as an educator in China, Vietnam, and Azerbaijian.
In his former role he specialized in technical support, implementations, and related consulting work. This lead him to obtain his B.Sc. in IT from Western Governors University, and also acquire a number of industry certifications that include, among others:

He has also completed a number of additional courses covering areas of specialization such as Python programming, HTML and CSS programming, and block programming.
As an educator he first obtained his CELTA, then his M.ED. In Teaching English Language Learners (K-12, ESL, EFL) from the American College of Education, and has since completed a variety of additional courses that relate to understanding classroom interaction, learner-centred teaching, leading classroom discussions, learning design with STEM, inquiry-based learning, teaching block programming (Scratch, MS Makecode), and programming pedagogy in secondary schools. He has taught EFL, EAP, Business English, and academic skills (university), English and EFL (international schools, public schools), ICT and computing (international school), and block programming as well as beginning robotics (technical academy). In China specifically, he has taught at Shanghai JiaoTong University, East China Normal University, and during two short travel summer camps (Inner Mongolia, Silk Road).
More recently he has been working with Generative AI and exploring ways that it can be used to assist with academic work (teachers and students), solve business use cases, as a personal assistant, as an image-generation tool, for sentiment analysis, and as a component of task automation.
Mr. Chabot is also a native French speaker with a keen interest in foreign cultures and languages, and an experienced international traveler.
